Blood Biker featured in Motorcycle News wears our Pro L2K Dynamic

06/07/2018 10:43:00

Here’s a great article about Blood Biker, Geoff Brown, who covers 20,000 miles a year delivering essential medical items for Severn Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Service.

He wears the Forcefield Pro L2K Dynamic back protector because ‘It’s CE2, flexible and, crucially thin because my leathers are getting tighter each year! I have to be able to tour in my track kit so all-day comfort is as important as crash protection.’

The Bike Shed reviews Forcefield Action Shorts

19/06/2018 10:27:00

Here is a review of our Action Shorts by The Bike Shed, first  published on their website at

'After countless crashes, drops and slides I finally destroyed my Knox armoured shorts – with a washing machine. Yes, yes, I know you’re supposed to remove the pads before washing but frankly there’s just hasn’t been enough turnaround and faff time recently.

So I thought I’d try a pair of Action Shorts from another British company, Forcefield. Quite a few people in the DTRA paddock swear by this gear and you can usually spot a Forcefield body armour wearer by the massive chest protector. The Action Short is similarly chunky with burly thigh protection as well as the familiar hip, butt and coccyx armour. Multiple layers of foam make-up a more traditional padding, where other models in the Forcefield range utilise squishier and more pliable shock absorbing compounds. Although with body heat the thick foam does mould to one’s contours. The pockets for the armour are individually sectioned which firmly locates the pads, not just important in a spill but also to avoid irritation while making weird shapes on track. You’d think this would be the norm but I have tried some gear that allows padding to ‘float’ and move out of position easily.

Once on, I felt like I could take a swinging kick from Bruce Lee and then have him run me over with a tank, these things are stout to say the least. If you wear tight trousers you might need to go for the Contakt with its slimmer profile padding but I like to feign invincibility.

The drawstring around the waist might seem an obvious benefit but most shorts don’t have this feature and tend to slide up and down, which is annoying. The material is a wicking synthetic type (BeCool) and not like the shiny cycle short lycra of some. Comfortable against the skin with a proper waistband. Even in 30 degree Florida heat during a trip to the Johnny Lewis 10 Training Camp my plums didn’t perish.

Trying to slam a flat track bike on its cases and bend extensively at the hip did cause a bit of digging-in but that was easily remedied by peeling off one of the foam layers to allow a bit more room under rather tight 250 London trousers. I’d imagine these would be great for enduro, supermoto or pretty much anything including the Dakar. Even the sharpest rock would have a job making it’s presence felt.

For the purposes of a thorough review I had a crash. Turning-down the front to scrub speed was the newly acquired skill of the day, but not yet mastered. I nearly endoed a bike with no front brake and tumbled multiple times across a rock-hard clay track. The orange dirt suggested I should have had ouchies on my thigh, left bum cheek, hip and shoulder…. yet nothing. I couldn’t even tell I’d hit the deck, but was soon reminded by my mates chuckling and the omnipresent GoPro footage. I’ve since been on a few enduro and trials schools and completed product testing bumps with nothing more to show for my efforts than torn trousers.

Not that I go around sniffing my pants you understand but the Action Short has remained aroma free (must be the trademarked BeCool stuff) after some incredibly sweaty outings, I can’t say the same for the rest of the pungent items in my kitbag. Again, I had no choice but to wash the Action Short against the manufacturer’s instructions with the padding still in place. They came out just fine and I’ll be using them for the rest of the 2018 flat track championship. A really decent piece of kit.

I do like the idea of having my thighs protected but if my leather race suit doesn’t allow the room I’ll probably go for the all-new and slightly more svelte Pro Short X-V2. Now, I used to be a 32″ waist but recently my metabolism has flatlined and I now find a 34″ trouser pinches but the Forcefield sizing is generous. I have a medium which leaves plenty around the waist and even fits my girthy thighs. Charts available on the Forcefield website.

We’re already out of space in our shop so can’t stock much in the way of armour but Forcefield is available from J&S across the UK, Infinity Motorcycles in London or try ordering from your local Snow & Rock or Ellis Brigham – snowboarders favour this level of protection too.'

'Since writing this review I was able to fully test these shorts, again. After being collected by another competitor at the MCN Festival I ran out of track and my bars tangled with the airfence, ripping them from my hands. After that all I remember is landing hard on my coccyx. The shock was sizeable and sudden, my brain rather than pain receptors suggesting a significant injury. I was winded but able to clamber to my feet to check on the other downed riders. Once the adrenaline washed away and my chance of making the final diminished I headed to the van to inspect the damage. One deep bruise above my knee and that was it, the thigh pad had borne the brunt of the impact, leaving  just a shallow witness mark in the foam. My arse was tender but I wasn’t about to give that a close inspection. I’d broken the lockstops off my fork yokes and bent the bars – the damage beneath the thick padding? Ziltch.

Had I been wearing thinner, less protective shorts, or none like many in the paddock, I’m 100% sure I’d be ordering a standing desk. Thanks Forcefield, you did actually save my butt!'

Italian magazine, Miss Biker, tests and reviews the Pro L2K Dynamic back protector

Forcefield PRO L2K DYNAMIC LADY Test: Women's Protection
‘We start from a fundamental concept: every biker must think first of all to safety. This is why it is of primary importance to wear safe and certified protections that adequately protect the body, especially the spinal column.

Today we tell you about the back protector Forcefield Pro L2K DINAMIC LADY that has some really interesting features: it was designed to be soft, flexible and comfortable while providing maximum protection from impacts and being in conformity with EC regulations EN1621 – Level 2, as high as possible.

In case of Impact, the Nitrex viscoelastic polymer structure is temporarily compressed. The impact spreads evenly towards the adjacent spaces, causing the shock force to reduce.

After impact, Nitrex slowly releases accumulation energy due to its viscoelastic feature to return to its original shape in a short time.

All this guarantees a Repeat Performance Technology (RPT), which means that even after multiple impacts there is no loss of performance in the protection.

Forcefield Pro L2K DINAMIC LADY is built in multiple layers that are sewn with Kevlar ® thread for greater resistance and perforated in such a way as to allow the partial movement of the inner layers.

This movement has a twofold purpose:
– It makes the protection more comfortable allowing it to adapt to the shape of the body;
– Helps ventilation in the back.

The fully adjustable shoulder straps and the double waist adjustment ensure a correct fit for different body shapes and sizes.

Comfortable and simple to wear, Forcefield Pro L2K DINAMIC Lady fits perfectly to the female build.

The structure is not rigid and allows you to follow the silhouette of the back protecting completely (you can choose between medium and Large in the Lady version). Excellent closure in life that, thanks to two other elastic bands with lateral velcro, allows greater adherence to the body.

Ventilation holes do not help as you hoped ventilation on your back but considering the protection guaranteed by this back protector is a negligible detail.

With a weight of 670 grams, one can certainly not say that Forcefield Pro L2K DINAMIC Lady is lightweight but hides many features of note.

The thickness is not little (about 2 cm) and requires a jacket not too tight to be worn.

In the saddle Forcefield Pro L2K DINAMIC Lady does not create annoying chafing on the neck and offers a comforting feeling of protection even if on sunny days he lacks ventilation.

Excellent adherence to the body and the fit guaranteed by the adjustments with Velcro and slider on the shoulder straps.’ on the Pro Vest X-V 2: 'the perfect protection vest for your summer outings'

Pro Vest X-V2 Protective Vest
'Forcefield presents the perfect protection vest for your summer outings. The brand new Forcefield Pro Vest X-V2 vest incorporates a CE approved thoracic spine and chest protector that meets the most demanding standards of the certification body.

Ideal for motorcyclists looking for integrated body armor, the Pro Vest X-V2 Vest offers a CE2 Level 2 back protector and CE chest protector. It has a super light construction and has a central zipper and a removable adjustable belt.

It is made of BeCool, a technical polyamide fabric, open mesh, super-resistant (X Vents) that is even more breathable, yet soft and resistant. The air passes through areas of high heat, and provides unmatched breathability and amazing lightness. It wicks sweat away from the body through the vest so that it evaporates quickly. The thermoregulatory effect generated by the movement of moisture keeps the body temperature at an optimal level for enhanced comfort.

The CE2 backbone has been redesigned and now offers unparalleled flexibility. This multilayered backbone uses Forcefield's Dynamic-Reactive Intelligent Materials (DRI-M) technology.

The Pro Vest X-V2 Vest features foam pads that provide high levels of shock absorption combined with RPT (Repeat Performance Technology) technology. The back protector is held in place by a removable belt adjustable in height.

Thanks to its flat seams, the Pro Vest X-V2 is very comfortable to wear and is forgotten under a jacket or a combination. Stylish, this sleeveless vest features two breast pockets for chest protectors and a back pocket for the dorsal. These protections are installed and removed easily and quickly which allows to wash the vest machine, if necessary.

The Pro Vest X-V2 vest comes in sizes ranging from small (S) to very large (XL).' on Tech 2: 'the most complete and most powerful base layer set'

A hátizsákszerű részből kibányászható maga a védelmet biztosító csodakombó, ami különböző méretű lapokból áll, középen összevarrva.

Snow.Guide gives our Slam 1 Shorts full marks - 'A Must for Snowboarders'

Forcefield Slam 1 Shorts Review – Snowboard Protection Shorts
(‘A must for snowboarders’)

I was interested in reviewing the Forcefield Slam 1 Shorts as I reviewed the original Forcefield Slam Shorts last season and was mightily impressed. As a snowboarder, I appreciated that Forcefield had cut the fat, as to speak, getting rid of the excess padding that snowboarders do not need.

So what is different about the Forcefield Slam 1 shorts apart from a new royal blue colour?

Forcefield Slam 1 Shorts Review
The main difference is that they have managed to cut down on the thickness of the padding from 17mm, incredibly to only 8mm. This is still while retaining the level of protection with a CE Level 1 rating.

This makes the shorts much lighter than their predecessor and a much lower profile. I have always worn protection shorts and my main issue is that sometimes the padding is noticeable under ski trousers. This is not the case with the Forcefield Slam 1 protection shorts.

They are also very comfortable. So much so that I wouldn’t have even know that I was wearing them until I took a slam. Luckily this didn’t happen too many times, but with icy and variable conditions in Tignes, my board did slide out from underneath me when boarding at speed once, and I was very grateful for the added protection!

Although skiers would also benefit from the Forcefield Slam 1 shorts, they are definitely more ideal for snowboarders. The high energy absorbing foam, protects the lower back, coccyx, bum and thighs. If any of you have fallen on your coccyx you will know how painful that is!

The protection shorts can be used as a base layer and the fibres are made from BeCool technology. This makes it highly breathable, have great wicking properties and fast drying. In other words, it will stop you smelling like a drowned Snow Vole if you wear them for a few days on the trot!

Eventually, you will have to wash them though! This is not a problem as the padding is easily removable and you can bung them in the washing machine.

I love the Forcefield Slam 1 impact shorts. They have everything that made the original Slam shorts great for snowboarders, but made them better.

The new low profile really works and looks fantastic. As for durability, I have worn them for about 20 days on the mountain and so far so good.

A must for snowboarders! A review score of 10 out of 10 (I don’t give full marks away very often).

Snow.Guide reviews the Forcefield Mons Vest

22/01/2018 09:42:00

Below is a brilliant review of our Mons Vest by Snow.Guide. This back protector designed for snow sports scored a huge 9.5 out of 10.

'I have been wearing Forcefield back protectors for years, so I was eager to try out the new Forcefield Mons Vest.

I tested the Forcefield Mons Vest out on a short snowboarding trip to Tignes. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight this back protector is. And, because the back protector is incorporated into a vest, it was a snug fit without being uncomfortable. There is an optional waist fastener to make it a more snug fit, but I didn’t need it.

Forcefield have also managed to give the vest a low profile so fits nicely under a jacket and no one would even know that you are wearing a back protector. I was wearing the vest over my base layer and under my shirt, which fitted well. Although, the vest is still categorised as CE level 2 which is ideal for snowsports.

I also like the new styling from Forcefield. They have moved away from their signature light blue to a two tone combination with royal blue. This may only be a small detail, but one that I welcome.

The Forcefield Mons Vest was perfect for snowboarding as it was so light I completely forgot I was wearing one. I also had complete freedom of movement as the back protector didn’t restrict me at all.

Fortunately for me, I didn’t have any big wipe outs so didn’t get to test out the credentials of the back protector. It does have a high energy absorption so softening the blow for your back. If you do have a slam, the Mons Vest has repeat Performance Technology so it can be used again and again. Forcefield is a brand that protects some of the UK’s finest pros like Jamie Barrow. Considering that barrow is officially Britain’s fastest snowboarder, if it is good enough for him then it is good enough for me!

Another great feature of the Mons Vest is that it is machine washable. Simply remove the back protector from the inside and bung the vest in the wash. The material is also anti-bacterial so should last you a few days on the mountain before needing a wash.

The vest has a highly breathable fabric that utilises BeCool technology. This works like your very own climate control system for your skin, removing wet or hot air to regulate your body temperature.

If I was to spend time in the park hitting rails and getting big air, I would probably choose the Forcefield Ultra-Lite Back Protector. But for long days shredding the slopes, where comfort is needed with the protection, the Forcefield Mons Vest will be my choice for this season.'

Motorcycle Gear Hub gives Forcefield Action Shorts a 5/5

02/01/2018 16:13:00

Below is a review of our Action Shorts by Motorcycle Gear Hub. These armoured shorts scored 5/5 for Protection, Fitment, Design and Quality of Materials and 4/5 for Value for Money, achieving an overall Motorcycle Gear Hub rating of 5/5. Excerpts of the review are below, with the full review available on their website.

'The Best Armored Underwear for Riders: Forcefield Action Pro Shorts
I’ve always been sort of baffled as to how so many motorcycle pants nowadays lack any protection for the buttocks and thighs. Hip protection doesn’t fare any better either, and, many times, you will find leather and textile pants offering some measly foam at the hips or none at all. But, here’s the thing, hip fractures are very common in motorcycle crashes and they are a pain in the derriere (pun intended!) to deal with until they heal (if they do ever heal).

Basically, if you’re a motorcycle rider and you want to enjoy your future years as an independent pain-free senior citizen, it is thus your duty to take care of your hips and pelvis.

Enter the Forcefield Action Pro Armor Shorts
Stemming from the United Kingdom, Forcefield specializes in body armor for different recreational activities including motorcycling. I own several products of theirs already and I can attest to their emphasis on serious body protection and on advancing the field through innovation and pioneering. Essentially, Forcefield is among the very-few armor manufacturers that I’d trust my life with and that of my partner too.

I recently had a chance to grab a set of Forcefield’s epic Action Pro shorts for my girlfriend. I have other armored shorts, but none come close to the level of absolute protection yielded by these Action Pro armored shorts from Forcefield. After piling up the miles with my girlfriend riding with me as a passenger and her wearing these shorts, it is thus that I want to bring you a detailed review of the Forcefield Action Pro armored shorts. Let’s kick it!'

Motoplus reviews Forcefield Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic back protectors

24/11/2017 12:22:00

Here is a review of our Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic back protectors by Canadian publisher, Motoplus.

(Translated from French)
'Considered by experts and the trade press as the most efficient back protectors on the market - they won our comparative protectors test - the Forcefield Pro Sub 4 and Pro L2K are updated to deliver enhanced performance and long-lasting comfort.

The new Pro Sub 4K incorporates Forcefield's DRI-M (Dynamic, Reactive, Intelligent Material) Technology. The different layers of absorbent materials are now stitched together with Kevlar thread for added strength and protection. It is the only back protectors to transmit a force below 4kn during impact tests, making it the best protection on the market.

The new Pro L2K Dynamic is the latest iteration of the original Pro L2 introduced on the market 14 years ago. It is now made from a softer, more flexible base material that allows three-dimensional body heat-activated moulding to be more responsive and take shape faster. The result is improved protection and increased user comfort. The Pro L2K Dynamic also incorporates Forcefield's DRI-M (Dynamic, Reactive, Intelligent Materials) Technology.

The Forcefield Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic back protectors provide unmatched protection even after multiple impacts with RPT (Repeat Performance Technology). They can be used on track (speedway, supermoto) but also on the road to commute, travel or go on an adventure.'

23/11/2017 16:16:00

The Forcefield Pro Sub 4K back protector has been featured in a special EICMA edition of Italian magazine, Motociclismo.

Another great review of the Forcefield Pro L2K Dynamic; this is from the December issue of RiDE Magazine.

'Use the Forcefield Pro L2K Dynamic, Luke' article from

08/09/2017 13:54:00

Here's a great (Star Wars-themed) article about our Pro L2K Dynamic back protector by

'Use the ‘Forcefield Pro L2K Dynamic’ Luke!

The Pro L2K Dynamic is the latest version of Forcefield’s long-running Pro L2 back protector range – 14 years it’s been going, apparently.

The bumph says it’ is now built with a softer and more pliable moulded first protection layer, so it 3D moulds and shapes faster, giving more comfort without compromising on safety. And it all has Forcefield DRI-M Technology (Dynamic, Reactive, Intelligent Materials) integrated throughout.

It’s designed to fit close to the body, and has the ability to withstand multiple impacts, the multi-layered technical materials are held together with Kevlar® thread for added security and strength and it is – of course – certified to EN1621-2 CE2 standards.

Forcefield say it’s good for on road, on track, touring, commuting, super-moto, and adventure riding as it’s soft, comfortable and non-restrictive, breathable, lightweight and has an adjustable three-point waist fastening and shoulder straps.

It comes in both mens and ladies versions, and has an RRP of £134.99.'

Super Streetbike tests Forcefield Contakt Shorts

23/08/2017 11:31:00

Super Streetbike tests a range of Forcefield armoured technical underwear - below is their review of the Contakt Shorts.

If you’re not looking for full armored pants, the Forcefield Contakt Shorts will fit the bill. These are comfortably worn as a base layer and provide a tremendous amount of protection (although there is obviously no knee armor).

Essentially appropriated cycling shorts, they’re constructed from breathable material that wicks moisture to keep you cool all day. They also have silicone “leg grippers” to keep the shorts in place, so they won’t bunch up as you move in the saddle or walk around.

For hygiene and comfort there is a soft chamois pad made from CoolMax Silver material. It is anti-bacterial and provides support between the legs and around the taint for longer rides. It definitely keeps everything fresh down there but it can feel a little awkward when you walk. It’s peculiar but you get used to it, and the pad protects against chafing, etc.

I wore the shorts in the office all day in 80deg weather, rode 100 miles and was fresher at the end than I would have been in cotton boxers. I also love how the silicone stop the shorts traveling up your legs when you sit and stand.

As for protection, Forcefield has incorporated seven removable armor inserts. The FLHEX armor features a series of hexagons that are designed to provided continuous protection thanks to the Repeat Performance Technology (RPT). This basically means you don’t have to throw them out if you take a light tumble.

The armor inserts cover the hips, top of the thighs, coccyx, and base of the back. Each sits in its own pocket and can be removed for washing.

The FLHEX armor is thin and very flexible, allowing it to conform to your body. I was somewhat apprehensive about armored shorts because previous experience had suggested they would be rather uncomfortable as the armor either digs into you or protrudes awkwardly. However, Forcefield has used its expertise to create a thin, lightweight, resilient armor that doesn’t fight the wearer. In fact, we’d recommend these shorts to anybody who wants extra protection without the discomfort of an additional layer. They can easily be worn under jeans or leathers, and the advanced material construction will keep you comfortable, even in hot conditions.

Super Streetbike tests Forcefield Pro Pants

23/08/2017 11:17:00

Super Streetbike tests a range of Forcefield armoured technical underwear - below is their review of the Pro Pants.

Constructed in an identical manner to the Pro Shirt X-V, the Pro Pants are the perfect accompaniment with the same combination of breathable material and CE-approved armor. Both the shirt and pants have substantial Forcefield armor, so don’t expect to be able to fit them under tight leathers without some wriggling. As before, the pants don’t offer abrasion resistance, so you’ll need a leather or kelvar outlayer. I wore them under Kevlar-reinforced jeans and was both comfortable and confident in the protection.

There’s a total of nine removable armor inserts. These includes Nitrex Evo armor for the knees. This felt really comfortable and was superior to the inserts that come with the jeans, which digs into my shins and knee caps.

All other inserts are constructed from a triple-layer M15 armor. Just like NEVO 7010, its impact protection comes from three dense layers of a foam-like material that features Repeat Performance Technology. Since it’s not rigid, the armor will mold to your body and I found it comfortable both on and off the bike for the entire day.

Forcefield has utilized its M15 armor for large inserts over the thighs and hips. This is far more protection than you’ll find in the majority of motorcycle pants and gives great confidence.
In the seat of the pants are three more M15 inserts – one over the coccyx and two more over each buttock. These were surprisingly comfortable in the office chair and virtually unnoticeable when riding.

To keep everything in place there are foot stirrups as well as a waist drawstring. The BeCool material is naturally elastic so helps to keep everything in place. You obviously want to ensure all the pads are in position before you pull on overpants, but everything stays in place while riding. The BeCool material’s breathable design works very effectively and ensures you’re not a sweaty mess at the end of the ride.

Super Streetbike tests Forcefield Pro Shirt X-V

23/08/2017 11:10:00

Super Streetbike tests a range of Forcefield armoured technical underwear - below is their review of the Pro Shirt X-V.

This shirt feels substantial. It’s relatively heavy and packs armor into all the vital areas, including a large one-piece chest protector. Yet it’s very easy to wear. For starters, it’s constructed from BeCool fabric with Evo Vents to pull heat and sweat away from your body and replaces it with fresh air, which feels good when you’re in motion.

Some nice design touches include a side-entry zipper, which allowed Forcefield to include its one-piece chest protector while still providing a wide opening to put it on easily. There are thumbholes at the bottom of the sleeves to keep everything in place when you put a jacket over the top. It even has a long tail to keep it tucked into your pants when riding.

Forcefield uses its patented, multi-density, modular Nitrex Evo armor in the elbows and shoulders. Formed in a triangular grid, this is a lightweight, CE-approved armor that is breathable and molds to your contours. The Pro Shirt X-V also employs NEVO 7010 armor in the back and chest. This is another CE-approved armor that is formed from three layers of a dense foam-like material. It’s easily removable for washing and, like the Nitrex Evo inserts, offers “Repeat Performance Technology (RPT) for consistent protection from multiple impacts” – so you don’t need to throw it out after a fall or two, provided it’s undamaged.

Perhaps its only snag with this level of armor is it can make you feel invulnerable, tempting you to wear something flimsy over the top. However, Forcefield makes no claims about abrasion protection for the Pro Shirt X-V, so you’ll want to wear leather or kevlar over it for full security.

The breathable fabric keeps you cool all day, on and off the bike. It’s elasticity means everything stays in place and isn’t constantly twisting around. The chest protector is probably the only noticeable aspect since you’re aware of its presence but I didn’t find it creeping up towards my neck as other armor is prone to do. And you know it’s going to do its job if you ever need to call on its services.

Priced at $299, it’s the Pro Shirt X-V isn’t cheap but you’re buying the armor protection of most jackets, with the heat control and moisture wicking of Technical Underwear, so we’d have to suggest the price is justified.

The Pro L2K Dynamic, from protection specialists Forcefield, now benefits from faster 3D moulding, is even less noticeable under a jacket and offers no compromise on protection levels.' reviews our Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic back protectors

19/07/2017 13:08:00

'Enhanced security and outstanding comfort' - below is a great review of Forcefield's new Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic back protectors from

They say: 'The British manufacturer Forcefield Body Armour updates its two most powerful back protectors and introduces the Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic.

Considered by experts and the specialist press as the most efficient back protectors on the market - they have won our comparative back protector test - the Forcefield Pro Sub 4 and Pro L2 are updated to provide enhanced performance and comfort, and increased use.

The new Pro Sub 4K integrates Forcefield's DRI-M technology (Dynamic, Reactive, Intelligent Material). The different layers of absorbent material are now sewn together with Kevlar thread for increased strength and protection. This is the only back protector to transmit a force of less than 4kn when tested for impact, making it the best protection on the market.

The new Pro L2K Dynamic is the latest iteration of the original Pro L2 introduced on the market 14 years ago. It is now made of a more flexible and flexible base material that allows three-dimensional moulding activated by body heat to be more responsive and take shape faster. This results in enhanced protection and increased ease of use. The Pro L2K Dynamic also integrates Forcefield's DRI-M technology (Dynamic, Reactive, Intelligent Material).

The Forcefield Pro Sub 4K and Pro L2K Dynamic back protectors offer unmatched protection, even after multiple impacts, using Repeat Performance Technology (RPT). They can be used on track (speed, super moto) but also on road to commute, travel or go on an adventure.'

Super Streetbike magazine reviews Forcefield Base Layer T-Shirt and Pants

17/07/2017 11:11:00

Great review of Forcefield Base Layer T-shirt and Pants from Super Streetbike.

They say: 'British company, Forcefield, specializes in body armor for different action sport activities. Highly regarded around the world, its products are specified by a number of clothing manufacturers and action sport companies. In North America, riders can buy Forcefield products from, either as individual inserts or in armored clothing.

Available with long or short sleeves for men or women, the range includes matching pants that feature reinforced knees for durability.

The items are manufactured from BeCool fabric. This is described as a polyamide fiber with four-channel thread that is three times more diffusive than cotton. In other words, it ensures high levels of breathability, helping to keep you fresh rather than soggy.

Forcefield describes the fabric like a fan, which is a great analogy. It is able to push hot, humid air away from the skin, towards the outer layer of the fabric. It also allows cool, dry air to circulate from the outside to the surface of the skin, making you feel cooler.

When wearing the Base Layers, the fan concept comes to life. You feel a cooling effect and sweat is quickly removed. Jumping off the bike after a long ride, I quickly heat up in all my gear. If I’m wearing a cotton T-shirt and underwear, they absorb the sweat and take a while to dry. However, the Forcefield Base Layers rapidly pull sweat away from the body, allowing me to cool down sooner and feel comfortable for longer.

This feature would be most apparent after a full track day, where the exertion will have you sweating in your leathers. However, technical underwear will take the sweat away from your body and create a cooling effect whatever situation you’re in.

The Base Layers are form fitting to keep the fabric next to your skin, helping the effect work more immediately. The fabric is comfortable to wear all day and has coped with machine washing – both manufacturers recommend a cold wash and air-drying to preserve the wicking and anti-bacterial effects.'

Bike Magazine 'impressed' with Isolator 2 upgrade armour

26/06/2017 10:53:00

Here is Bike Magazine's glowing review of our Isolator 2 Upgrade Armour from their August issue.

They say: ‘CE level 2 armour transmits far less impact force to the rider than CE level 1. And that usually means it's thicker, heavier and more cumbersome than the stuff you get in your regular CE approved kit. So, the fact that this innovative upgrade from armour masters Forcefield is so thin, light and flexible yet is able to pass the stringent level 2 tests is amazing. Then consider that the most expensive bit is the level 2 back protector at £34.99. Impressive.’

Electric Bike Action Magazine reviews Forcefield Contakt Shorts

16/06/2017 11:03:00

Many thanks to US publication, Electric Bike Action Magazine, for reviewing our Contakt Shorts in their forthcoming August issue.

Riding an electric mountain bike means you can spend longer days in the saddle and tackle more difficult terrains; wearing Contakt Shorts means you can do it in comfort - and with protection.

Contakt Shorts are a perfect fit with the booming e-bike industry, which has seen tremendous growth in the USA, China and across parts of Europe in recent months, and this trend is set to continue.

Described by Electric Bike Action Magazine as having ‘all the features a rider could ask for’ they are essential e-bike gear and are equally suitable for road e-bikes and off-road e-bikes. Out of three brands of protective shorts on the market our Contakt Shorts were voted the 'most protective'.

Mountain Bike Web Magazine reviews our Contakt Shorts

08/06/2017 13:00:00

Italian publication, Mountain Bike Web Magazine, has product tested our Contakt Shorts. The full review and photos appear on their website. Here is an excerpt.

'The Contakt Shorts are worn with ease, thanks to the fact that all the protective elements are positioned immediately to the right place, thus not require any adjustments.

The location of these elements seemed well designed to protect the points most at risk in case of a fall (although thankfully we have to say it had not yet had the opportunity to experience the effects.)

In no time we forget to be wearing the protective elements. They do not restrict the movements in the saddle.

During pedalling it has been necessary to rearrange the Contakt Shorts, seen as they remain safely in position, thanks to the silicone insert positioned on the thighs.

The removal of the protective elements is very simple, as well as their reintegration after washing.'

Super Streetbike magazine reviews Forcefield Tornado Advance Shirt and Pants

10/05/2017 10:05:00

Great review from US publication, Super Streetbike magazine, on our Tornado Advance Shirt and Pants. Thanks to (our US distributor) for sending this over.

'I don’t wish to appear like a fair weather rider but few people genuinely enjoy riding in cold weather. It’s something we often need to do, so why not take some sensible precautions? After all, the chill factor of an 80mph wind even on a 50˚F day can chill you to the bones after a few miles, never mind when it’s even colder. There are plenty of options for summer riding, from mesh and perforated jackets to wicking and cooling undershirts (which we’ll analyze in a future review). For now, we’re going to look at motorcycle-specific thermal underwear from Forcefield.

Everybody knows the secret to combatting cold weather is to dress in layers. The layers trap air, which is heated by your body to warm you. However, when riding a motorcycle, you have cold, high-speed air entering your clothing, so a different tactic is required. One solution is to use windproof fabrics to prevent cold air entering. However, this has to be weighed against the need for air circulation and the problems associated with sweating once you come to a stop.

With all this in mind, Forcefield has developed its Tornado Advance long-sleeve shirt and pants, which are available in the US through

These garments provide the benefits of modern lightweight, anti-bacterial underwear with the thermal properties of Thermolite insulation plus the wind protection of the company’s Defender+ fabric. When you open the packaging, the thicker Defender+ fabric almost feels like thick paper. I actually reached inside to check I hadn’t missed any packaging. Placed only on the front of the garment (body and arms on the shirt, legs on the pants), this forward-facing fabric is wind-proof but also water-resistant and breathable. These properties alone make it ideal for winter riding, allowing it to help keep you dry if your jacket inevitably lets in water. The Defender+ fabric also has a microfleece lining for comfort and thermal properties. Everywhere else, both garments use Thermolite fabric. And, as the name suggests, it is both thermal and breathable (even when wet). Engineered with hollow-core fibers to trap air for greater insulation, it dries quickly and prevents bacteria build up caused by perspiration.

So that’s the theory – how does it work? The long-sleeve Tornado Advance shirt has a high neck with a zipper to aid slipping it over other layers, if you wish. Once on, both the shirt and pants are comfortable to wear and you don’t instantly overheat as you prepare to ride. In fact, it’s easy to doubt the thermal properties as they feel light and relatively cool to wear. Once on the bike, nothing really changes. You continue to be warm and comfortable. The shirt and pants do everything as advertised. They prevent the chilling wind from reaching your skin without restricting movement or overheating when you stop. Another advantage is the lightweight design means movement isn’t restricted at all. With no Defender+ fabric on the back of both garments, it allows the Thermolite material to wick away moisture and avoid sweating. Or perhaps it just dries so quickly (50% quicker than cotton) that you don’t ever notice you’re sweating.

With the great properties of these garments, I used the Forcefield Tornado Advance shirt and pants when hiking and found it just as comfortable, helping to regulate body temperature and not requiring you to wear extra bulky layers. For anybody who rides in cold weather, we definitely recommend the Forcefield Tornado Advance clothing. In fact, the range also includes a neck warmer, balaclava and gloves with the same thermal properties as described here. All are machine washable and lightweight to wear. We didn’t get to experience the clothing when riding in extremely cold weather but it worked well when evening temps dropped into the 40s. If you plan to ride in temperatures below these, we expect it to work equally well and allow you to remain vigilant in the saddle.'

LA MOTO Magazine reviews our Pro L2K Evo and Pro Sub 4 back protectors

28/04/2017 12:39:00

Spanish publication, LA MOTO Magazine, has reviewed the Forcefield Pro L2K Evo and Pro Sub 4 back protectors in the 'mejor compra' ('best buys') guide.

Google Translations:
Pro L2K Evo: '3D design of the Nirex Evo impact material for a correct fit to the body, different perforated layers sewn with Kevlar thread, double adjustment by straps to the shoulders and Velcro in waist, high breathability. Among the two options of the British manufacturer of protections, it is the most suitable for an open road standard use. Although it seems somewhat heavy, however the different layers that compose this trellis, as well as the adjustments available, force the weight of the assembly to be minimized. It is not excessive in any case. It is very easy to disassemble to wash the base. Correct fit for a very tight set, with possibility of washing.'

Pro Sub 4: 'CE approval with level 2 safety certificate, 3.38kN impact test, 32mm thick, elastic strap and Velcro waistband, detachable and washable base, breathable, high flexibility and adaptability. The roof of the brand specializing in protection is found in this Pro Sub 4, where the highest score has been obtained in the evaluation of impacts during the tests carried out for its approval. The high adaptation to the body is given by the high flexibility offered by the assembly that, although it is somewhat daunting to the eye, nevertheless once put in it brings a practically perfect fit. Preferred use sporty but suitable for what you want for its easy fit.'

Canadian moto magazine has just published a review of our Pro Vest X-V and Pro Shirt X-V.

'Concerned with the protection of motorcyclists, both on road and off-road, the British company Forcefield Body Armour presents its life jacket Pro X-V, the ultimate security protection to motorcyclists.

The Forcefield Pro X-V Vest is a modern worthy of Iron Man armour that fits under a combination of leather, off road jacket, enduro jacket or motocross shirt, whichever discipline that you practice. Designed to protect motorcyclists from shocks or falls, it incorporates a host of CE approved removable protections at the level of the elbows, shoulders, back and chest. These are housed in a garment of type Base Layer in BeCool, a highly technical and breathable fibre.

The Pro Shirt X-V is equipped with a large one-piece chest protector for better protection of the ribs and the sternum. It also has a side zipper for easy fastening. The Pro Shirt X-V has an ergonomic design to ensure optimum fit and comfort.

The protections of this armour are made in Nitrex Evo (elbows and shoulders) and NEVO 7010 (backbone and protects chest). Thanks to a three-dimensional moulding process, they fit perfectly on the shape of the body. These approved protections enjoy the RPT (Repeat Performance Technology) technology, which allows them to offer optimal protection even after multiple impacts.

The Pro Shirt X-V is made of a fibre technical synthetic antibacterial called BeCool that has an area larger than standard and provides fibre spreading comfort. During exercise, this fibre draws the hot air and moisture from the body outward to make place for cool and dry air. The ventilation of this vest is amplified by areas called Evo wind areas that offer management of heat and moisture, even in the hottest and wettest conditions.

A Pro-X-V-S version with short sleeves, and pants protection Pro Pants with the same technology, is also available.'

RiDE Best Buy 2008 - Forcefield Pro L2 Back Protector - May 2008

Forcefield Pro L2 Back Protector has RiDE BEST BUY tag again!

Road testers found the Forcefield extremely reassuring and comfortable because it moulds to the contours of your back as it gathers heat escaping the body and feels as if it would absorb impacts well. The feeling is supported by the protection tests, with high levels of impact absorption, achieved consistently across the protective area with no weak areas. Because it is relatively slim, getting leathers over it is easy too. The average force transfer across the seven impacts was 5.6kN, comfortably under the 9kN limit for Europe?s higher Level Two standard."
