Supermoto star Cornish Off to a Flying Start

22/04/2014 11:48:00

Lydd International Raceway in Kent hosted the opening round of the 2014 British Supermoto Championships and Forcefield racer Lewis Cornish had a dream start to his season by taking the overall win and the top step of the 450 Elite podium.

Lewis on a new bike in a new team was involved with heated battles all weekend with a packed grid of racers to take victory. He also showed his skill and outright speed by bettering his Saturday's second placed qualifying time by taking his CRT TM450 machine to a blistering pole position on Sunday. This opening round success came off the back of some intense off-season training in Europe where he got used to his new race bikes and spent time with his new CRT team mates preparing for the tough season ahead.

Lewis explained "I'm really pleased to be leading the British Championship, its the toughest its been for years and my off-season training has helped but the big difference is my new TM450 race bikes. They really are special and I'm still learning what I can do with them. Lydd wasn't a track that they can show their advantages and I can't wait to get on a faster more flowing circuit such as the next race at Three Sisters. I'd like to thank all my sponsors and Mike at TMUK for his help and building a super quick engine for me. Hopefully I can carry on how I've started, challenge for the British titles and make the three rider Team GB squad again this year"
